Grace & Race Panel

Sunday, March 5, 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM

Mar 5, 2017 at 12:30 PM

Location: 7101 (Main Room)

The Bible has a lot to say about racial minorities. In the Book of Amos, God holds all people accountable for how they treat the least powerful persons in their societies. In Acts, we see God creating the church out of every race. In Galatians, we read that in Christ there is no distinction between races. In Revelation, we see every race in heaven worshipping equally. Yet in day-to-day life it’s easy to be even unintentionally insensitive to people from other backgrounds.

As Christians, we are called to continually grow in how we love one another. That means those who are not members of racial minorities must refuse to let themselves be unconcerned about difficulties minorities face. We should spend time listening to voices in our own family that we may have previously not heard-- and embracing our identity as the place for every race. That’s why we’re having a “Grace and Race” panel. It’s a time where we’ll hear from some people here at TLC from various backgrounds about their honest experiences. It’s not a time for finding an instant solution to every problem. It’s a time for listening to the honest experiences and feelings of others.
