
Short-Term Mission Opportunities
2012-2013 North America and Caribbean
Alabama Tornado Relief 2012 (due to an insufficient response, this mission has been cancelled)
Purpose: Continue the recovery effort at the Alpha Ranch youth facility, including helping families in the community through alpha Ranch. This is a family-friendly mission that kids can help with.
Destination: Alpha Ranch, Ragland, Alabama.
Dates: April 9-14, 2012
Cost: $440 (housing at church) PLUS airfare OR $640 (housing in hotel) PLUS airfare.
Team Size: 20 people
Information Meetings: Sunday, February 5th at 10:45 AM in MH 706 OR Sunday, February 12th at 9 AM in modular 822.

Grand Bahama Island 2013
Purpose: Finish and/or interior construction, sewing clinic, jewelry making, health screenings (so physicians & nurses are needed) recovery ministry, and other programs are included in this multifaceted ministry!
Dates: 2012 team has now taken place; 2013 team dates TBA (likely March of 2013).
Information Meetings: TBA.
Necessary Immunizations: Tetanus, Hepatitis A & B (recommended).
Application Process:
- Complete the "TLC Short Term Mission Application" and submit it to Chuy & Deanna Gardiner-Garcia (see contact information below).
- Attend TLC's Short Term Mission Training (Class 501).
- If this is your first short term mission trip with TLC, schedule an appointment with Pastor Paul Spurlock at paul@tlc.org or 831-465-3380.
- Read, agree to, and sign the "Personal Covenant & Liability Release."
- Attend the team meetings.
- Possess a passport.
Cost: Approximately $900 plus air fare. Includes hotel lodging, all meals except for free day.

Mexico 2012 ("Club Dust")
Purpose: Bring the love of God to the rural poor of Mexico! Help build houses for those who have none! This outreach is one of the best all-age & family-friendly mission trips at TLC! It's also one of our least expensive non-local missions!
Dates: December 27-31 2012.
Cost: TBA. (As an approximation, last year's costs were: $210 per adult, $90 for children ages 7-11; $70 for children 6 & under. This includes all lodging, food, & ministry supplies.)
Register: Visit www.clubdust.org and await the beginning of registration for the December 2011mission.
Transportation: Either the TLC bus (free) or on you own (at your expense) to the rendezvous point at San Diego airport (then car/bus pool across the border).

Oregon ("Camp Attitude") 2012
Purpose: Like the Joni & Friends camp, serve those with special needs! The extra-special feature of "Camp Attitude" is that is was created by TLC member Dan Whitney! A great all age and family mission opportunity!
Dates: July - families can go during any of the weeks in July. Students and staff from TLC's High School ministry will participating during the week of July 15-21, 2012.

San Francisco Inner City 2012
Purpose: "San Francisco Mission Outpost" is an inner-city ministry that reaches out to the needy (e.g. provide food, serve in rescue missions, do repair work and assist AIDS sufferers). We've been invited to join in their outreach in a manner that will surely change your understanding of the City by the Bay, as we lodge (bunk style), eat and serve together for an unforgettable weekend! We will be constructing a play structure and conducting an one day Children's event.
Dates: May 26-28. We depart for San Francisco at 9 AM on Saturday morning and have lunch on the way. We return Monday in the late afternoon.

Cost: $150 includes all lodging and meals (except for stops en route).

India (Little Flock Children's Home) 2013
Purpose: Our purpose is to tangibly show the love of Jesus by running dental, medical and optical clinics in a remote area. We will once again partner with Little Flock Children's Home. We're ESPECIALLY looking for dentists, dental assistants, physicians, ophthalmologists, nurses, hygienists and simply (untrained but willing) people who can act as support to the medical staff and help with other children's & teens activities. Carpentry & masonry workers are needed as well. In a good way, you'll never be the same after taking part in this incredible mission!
Dates: TBA (typically late January to early February).
Cost: $2300. May change due to flight costs. Additional costs are passport fee, Indian Visa ($100), vaccinations if needed, meals on layover, and Indian womens' clothes (about $12).
Team Size: Typically, this mission fills up quickly and has a maximum number of roster spots, so don't delay in contacting team leader Laurie Schlaepfer if seriously interested (see contact data below).
Training Meetings: Training meetings will be held in preparation prior to the trip. Mandatory attendance is necessary in order to attend the mission trip. Locations, dates & times TBA.

India (Prakash Vocational School) 2013
Purpose: Our purpose is to assist one of TLC's oldest and finest mission partners! "Prakash Vocational School" is home to about a 100 18 - 22 year old Indian youth who typically come from abject poverty and find a home at PVS that provides them with a stable home, intense & marketable training in a variety of trade skills, a sense of family, and discipleship in Jesus! Our role (to be finalized) will be to provide faculty for a "spiritual emphasis week," enjoy relationship with the students & staff, and assist in odd jobs around the campus that TLC helped to construct. It will be an unforgettable experience!
Dates: TBA (probably late January to early February, 2013).

Purpose: TLC missionaries Ken & Bola Taylor have once again invited us to assist in their Missionary Family Retreat by running the children and youth programs.
Dates:Approximately April 17-29, 2012.
