Plenty of ongoing opportunities to reach out to the unhoused in our community.
Portable Shower Program - TLC along with a number of other churches in mid-county run a portable shower program for the unhoused. Three days a week showers are offered in Aptos and Santa Cruz area. TLC is responsible to monitor showers the third Saturday of every month. If you want to help monitor the showers on a Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM, fill out this form.
Rotating Shelter Meals - Association of Faith organization runs two shelters and TLC is responsible to provide dinner on the third Friday of the month in Watsonville and the fourth Saturday of the month in Aptos.
If you are Interested in preparing and serving a meal for up to 20 unhoused families, fill out this form.
Winter Coat Drive for the Unhoused -this coat drive happens every Fall. Look for details in TLC's weekly newsletter or collection barrels in the church lobby. Usually we collect them from October to mid-November. For more information contact Robin at robin@tlc.org.
LoLo (Loads of Love) Laundry Van – Ron Powers and his team provide mobile laundry services to the unhoused. If you would like to help out or get more information in how you can be involved, contact Ron Powers at ron_powers@comcast.net.
WINGS - An Advocacy Group to help the unhoused get into homes. Zoom Training Sessions happen periodically. For more info or to register contact caroline.mann@wingsadvocacy.org
HOMELESS GARDEN PROJECT - come help out at the farm Tuesday through Saturday by weeding, harvesting, planting, watering and more. Go to homelessgardenproject.org/volunteer-community-education for more information and to sign up! Or volunteer to help out at their Sustain Supper that always happens in the middle of October.
