Upcoming Classes

Sun April 12: "Kids’ Mental Health Basics" - Register Here

Join us for a practical workshop designed to equip parents with a clearer understanding of children’s mental health through a hope-filled, Christ-centered lens. Together, we’ll explore what anxiety looks like in kids—what’s a normal part of growing up and what may signal the need for extra support. You’ll learn how to recognize signs and symptoms of areas of concern, how to respond with wisdom and compassion, and how to nurture healthy habits that strengthen your child’s emotional well-being.

Grounded in Scripture and guided by evidence-based insights, this workshop will empower you to cultivate a home where peace, connection, and resilience can thrive. Perfect for parents, caregivers, and anyone who wants to support the next generation with faith and confidence.

Teacher: Emily Cree, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Sun April 26: "What Youth Pastors Wish Parents Knew"

Discussion with Steve Craig, Jessica Frankl, Gracie Link

As your student heads towards the Middle School years, you probably have all sorts of questions about this big transition. TLC is blessed with an incredible youth team: Steve Craig and Jessica Frankl have decades of experience with this lifestage, and they’ll be joining us (alongside current Jr High Director Gracie Link) to share what you need to know about what’s next, as well as the vision TLC has for helping our youth to “Be with Jesus, Belong in Community, & Become Like Him”

Previous Classes

Sun Jan 18: "Staying Dependent on God as Parents"

The demands of parenting can often feel draining and downright daunting. Let's start the new year off remembering the truth that as we parent, God is supplying us with everything we need. Paul David Tripp writes "God never calls you to a task without giving you what you need to do it. He never sends you without going with you." In this session, we'll learn how to stay dependent on God in our parenting, what it means to seek Him first, and let Him supply us with all we need.

Sun Feb 8: "Talking to Your Kids about Sex"

Many of us feel lost when it comes to having conversations with our kids about sex. At best, it can feel uncomfortable and awkward - and at worst, it can bring up guilt and shame from our own experiences with sex. Add to that the relentless messaging about sex from secular culture, and we can very easily become overwhelmed.

In this Seminar, we will share God's redemptive vision for marriage & sex, how they relate to His kingdom here on earth, and how you can help share this vision with your kids. We’ll also address what’s appropriate to talk about at various life-stages, and more.

Teachers: Steven Johnson (Mt Hermon Family Ministry) & Kristin Jensen (TLC Director of Young Families)

Sun Mar 1: "Parenting & the Nervous System: Building a Stable Family Environment Rooted in God’s Peace"

Being a steady, grounded parent starts with understanding your own story. In this workshop, we’ll blend mental health insights with compassionate guidance on how your past, your nervous system, and your presence shape the emotional climate of your home. You’ll walk away with tools for leading your family with calm and connection.

Teacher: Local Marriage and Family Therapist Lacy Warne

Sun Mar 15: Better Together (2 options!)

Better Together: "Marriage Tools for Connection in the Chaos"

Join Suzi & Jim Josselyn—parents of three grown kids—as they share insights from 33 years of marriage. Discover practical, Christ-centered tools that have helped them stay intentionally connected through the busyness of life, the challenges of raising kids, and the call to follow Jesus faithfully.

Better Together: "Single Parenting in Community"

Connect with Yolanda Beaudoin, a single mom with 4 grown children + TLK's Children's Ministry Director, who will lead a discussion to help connect and encourage single parents!

Sun Mar 29: "The Relationship Grid: Finding Balance in Connection"

In every relationship, there are moments when we lose our balance. Sometimes we become controlling or critical; other times we pull away or feel small. Neither helps us feel close or understood.

Using the Relationship Grid, we’ll explore a simple yet powerful way to recognize these patterns and learn how to move from rupture to repair—staying connected to our partners and our children, even when we’re activated.

By understanding where we tend to go under stress and how to return to healthy relational balance, we can create homes filled with empathy, teamwork, and genuine love.

This talk will help you:

  • Recognize your go-to moves when tension rises
  • Practice staying open and connected under stress

Perfect for couples and parents who want to build strong, loving, and resilient family relationships.

Teacher: Life & Relationship Coach Tina Ratliff
