Need hope? Find your hope in the Lord today!

MONDAY, November 28

READ: Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, LORD our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this. Jeremiah 14:22

REFLECT: The Christmas season is a fun time of year for most people. But for some it can be a time of disappointment and loss. In fact, we can set our hopes so high on having an awesome, perfect, happy holiday that some feelings of disappointment can be almost inevitable!

As we begin Advent, we need to remember that our hope is not in the Christmas holiday itself; our hope is in the God we celebrate at Christmas! It’s not the ornaments and lights that bring true joy and life; it’s the Christ of Christmas!

At Christmas we remember that God came into our world, and began to restore and redeem it. And one day he will make everything right again! Though we still experience tears and pain and disappointment in this life (even during the holidays sometimes) the birth of Jesus is a reminder that God came into our dark places to begin to shine His light!
