READ: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given”… Isaiah 9:6a

REFLECT: To us a child is born – to us a son is given. This is personal! The promise is for you! The hope is for you! Let that sweep over you today.

It’s easy to believe the lie that God intended this for someone else – someone more deserving of his promises. But remember Isaiah 9:2? This is for people dwelling in a “land of deep darkness.” If you feel on the margins of God’s love, if you feel on the margins of society’s ideals, on the margins of your relationships, take heart because the promises are for you – the hope is for you.

And look who we’re waiting for - we’re waiting for a child, God’s son, who is given to us. He is given to you! You don’t have to beg for him, you don’t have to earn him. He is given. The hope is given to you.
